Hiram Bithorn Stadium was created to give Puerto Rico a major venue dedicated to baseball and large public events. Opened in 1962, the stadium was named in honor of Hiram Bithorn, the first Puerto Rican to play in Major League Baseball, whose career opened doors for generations of players from the island. From its founding, the stadium symbolized national pride and Puerto Rico’s deep connection to the sport.

Throughout its history, Hiram Bithorn Stadium has been a central stage for professional baseball, international tournaments, and historic games that brought together fans from across the island and beyond. It became the home of winter league teams and hosted Major League Baseball games, concerts, and large cultural events, expanding its role beyond sports. Over the decades, the stadium has adapted to changing needs while remaining an iconic landmark in San Juan.

More than just a baseball park, Hiram Bithorn Stadium represents legacy, perseverance, and shared passion. It holds memories of legendary plays, emotional victories, and unforgettable gatherings. For many Puerto Ricans, attending an event at Hiram Bithorn is part of growing up on the island. It continues to stand as a place where sports, culture, and collective identity come together under one field.
